Preventing Cavities
Hygiene is fundamental: it prevents the formation of plaque and the action of bacteria.
Prevention is based on three elements:
* Fluorine, given in addition to early childhood through adolescence by prescription dentist, improves resistance to tooth decay;
* An oral hygiene strict and regular dental checks every 6 months;
* The limitation of cryogenic sugars, so the factor less controllable because the sugar in all its forms is everywhere, in cupboards and refrigerators and in all places that children frequent. It retains a high symbolic value and cultural populations. Yet, nutrition education gets results in preventing tooth decay, especially in the privileged classes. Like other nutritional imbalance problems (e.g. obesity), caries is a disease of the poor.
