Salivation Is Another Way To Prevent Swollen Gums And Gum Disease

In another way, saliva helps in the prevention of gum disease. Saliva is our natural defense against dental problems such as swollen gums because it is loaded with enzymes that aid in the creation of antibodies which neutralize anaerobic bacteria. Keeping the mouth well-salivated can decrease the population of anaerobic bacteria and will not cause gum disease. Sadly, saliva cannot penetrate behind tartar which is the calcified plaque. It is only useful in preventing gum disease but it is not considered to be the treatment. Proper brushing and flossing can remove plaque and tartar can be removed by a professional cleaning with the use of a specialized instrument.
